The nasty thing about Tumblr is that you can’t zoom in to photos you upload for “text” posts. And if you upload as “photo” post, then you don’t get Subject field! >< just WHY
I will move to blogger screw you Tumblr haha I got angry once I took Michonne outside :D
Shy Sunday
So there was this “crafts and specialty sale” event I found on Kijiji last Sunday. I decided to meet the local crafters and see their works and so I went there.

After I went in I caught myself that I was expecting something like comic-con haha But that’s my problem, actually it was cool and I decided to take pictures. I am shy to take photos of people so I planned to shoot only what they were selling. I got Michonne (my DSLR camera) with me and everyone was asking if I am from a newspaper. And I was like “no.. just personal blog :3 Do you mind if I take pictures?” And I am not sure that it was totally okay for everyone but at least they were saying “okay”.
And after some tables I decided not to ask people anymore because everyone was giving me the permission and just started to take photos. And the old lady who was selling spices and cremes immediately warned me that I need to ask permission first. And this just killed me!! hahaha I just turned Michonne off. I don’t know how people shoot photos in public, especially portraits. Asking people to take photos of them, how would you explain this why do you need their photos???
So yeah, sorry blog I wanted to make you more colorful but your author is too shy :3
Here are some pre-old lady pictures, but I really missed lot of awesome works :( It’s my fault I should just continue asking for permissions.

Hello ^_^

Also I was shy that I didn’t have money to buy anything :( People were talking to me representing their works and I was feeling guilty -_-

So the reading week is almost gone and I haven’t done much from my todo list haha
And I sleep till 2pm but with interruptions so still sleepy -_- And also I got a “job”, from my home country. It’s not really a job -it’s competition. I was asked to draw a character for a company, they are gonna use it in their advertisements. There were other artists working too and the company is gonna choose the one. So yeah I spend lot of time drawing and if they choose my work I will get some money :3 If not I still had fun and some practice.

Books you actually need
So far, (the end of 4th week) you only need books in Math and just textbook in Accounting. You don’t need workbook. The accounting exercises are written in the text book, and there are only templates in workbook. You can do the same template in Excel or Word. The instructor also sends you these templates so really no need in workbook.
You definitely need a book in Math. Just a reminder that this book (7th edition) is the same as “Math for Information Technology” published by RRC (this information is correct for 2015 Winter term, so if you read it in the future double check it). Btw, Lena found this book on Amazon.ca just for 6$+7$ shipping. It’s already gone and now the best deal is for 12$ +7$ shipping. They don’t have deals like these in the beginning of the term. The prices were 50-60$ in January.
And you don’t need this book: Excellence in Business Communications. I bought the previous edition of the book, but actually I don’t need it at all. There is course content as powerpoint presentations available for all students, and those presentations are everything you need for quizzes and assignments.
So, you only need two books plus Lyryx for Math and for Accounting. Lyryx for both will be 68$, and Lyryx labs are 10% of total grades.

What I forgot to mention here is this calculator. You definitely surely 100% need this calculator!!!!! Its BA II Plus financial calculator, costs 50$ in campus bookstore. It was 50$ in Walmart and other stores too in the beginning of the term. Then, BestBuy discounted it to 33$ but ran out quickly. And now in the middle of the term it’s for 40$ in Walmart.
We are using it everyday in Math class, and it’s required for Statistics class too (it starts in March after we finish Math). And once you get used to it it’s really easy to learn new things!
So yeah Math+Statistics are the most expensive classes for BIT so far. You need 2 books + 2 Lyryx + this calculator.
Employer On Campus Events

So sometimes employers come on campus.. Here is this web-portal for students where you can register to attend. Only STEPS “fit me” so I registered for it. (Actually I don’t know if they are hiring international students, but it’s not indicated that they are NOT).
If I don’t have quiz in Accounting that day, and if there are still places available (they are limited), I will go. It’s in Notre Dame Campus though.. :3

P.S. RRC also has it’s private job portal: jobcentral.rrc.ca . But it’s not for students only, there are full-time jobs advertised generally.
I am gonna put posts in “Queue” meaning they will be publishing automatically once a day because I might turn myself into very intensive blogger for this Reading Week haha
WoWowoWoWow
And I just checked my last “Diversity News” email I received on February 12 (It was the deadline day for Assignment 3 in programming, I will never forget this day -_-
And I found this:

It’s so goddamn interesting I will definitely go this Thursday :3 I wish it was on Exchange District Campus :3
There is also encouragement to start searching for Summer job in this Newsletter, and that the tax form will be available in the end of February O_^, also Simon & Garfunkel tribute Orchestra tickets (if I am lucky and they still have tickets I am going with my husband :3), Valentine Day cookies sale from culinary students, Dreamcatcher workshop, attending Winnipeg Jets practice, and more.
So this newsletter gets more and more exciting each time! I am very impressed! :3
what I missed today
So there is this Festival du Voyageur running now in Winnipeg. And the college got free tickets for diversity students. And I received the newsletter telling me to register for tickets 2 weeks ago, and Lena remind me to register 5 days ago, and my host remind me 2 days ago.
And still I didn’t manage to go through 15 seconds registration process till yesterday afternoon :D And it was too late the registration was closed :3
Here is the link for programs:

Hahah it didn’t work for me :D
And here is the registration link (thanks Lena <3):

Hi blog!!!! I got insane amount of sleep! WooHooo!!!! I don’t know like most of the time yesterday and today I am SLEEPING ^_^.
And I just wanted to clarify that sometimes I might sound a little bit aggressive or negative here, because I tend to post with “hot heart”, but the very next moment or when I get more sleep I realize that things are not bad and not so dramatic and that everything is fine.
I just had the feeling that I need to clarify this to other student who said she reads my blog :3 (Hi there! How is going? ^_^ ) I met her at Out of Your Box meeting and the other day we were waiting for the bus together. She is so cute and I was shy to hear that she reads the blog haha. And I was like “you know I am usually overreacting”, so yeah I just wanted to write it down here too.
For example, it sounds like the LINKS Seminar for International Students was total crap but actually it was very awesome meeting! And the video with graduate A+ student was not like “look at me I am soooo coooool” and even if it was, superheroes don’t suck for sure haha
And actually I watched only the beginning because I had to go outside and meet the person from whom I purchased the calculator :3
It was also important to see other international students. We are only 16% of the total students and it was like”you are not alone and you are very welcomed here” kind of stuff. And as I mentioned earlier, I met there Wendy and Lena. I could get with more people, because we were asked to make small groups with students sitting around us, but it just didn’t work for our group :(

Also, everyone made this drawing: How we see ourselves in 7 years. I don’t want to share mine hahaha But yeah it was a good motivational boost.
And finally there was this delicious lunch!

Uuuu it was so good! I didn’t stayed after lunch though :3

So this will be my Java notebook! ^_^ Found it in Dollarama :3
I am gonna read everything we studied so far and write down notes. My goal is to make Java less difficult and less time consuming (I hope it’s possible -_-)

I for sure deserve pizza after working for 24 hours on Programming Assignment. I got nosebleed meaning my brain was literally exploding last night hahaha
So yeah everyone should reward themselves after hard work :3 Here you go Naruta nomnomnomnomnom
(Tip: This is $5 Pizza from Superstore. They have different topics and its quite large and its more fresh than frozen pizzas)
The dough was unbaked so I placed it back in the oven and then the topic was burnt and the dough was still unbaked -_-
Yeah it was set on “Grill” and only heated from the top :/

Today the weather was just amazing!!!! It was snowing!!!!!
I forgot my coffee at home and I am addicted to coffee and if I don’t drink it in the morning, my body gives me some time and I need to get it otherwise the very strong headaches will start. And I forgot about it and missed the opportunity to drink coffee on time so I was feeling very bad in the last classes. It gets worse when I am in the light or when I am reading something or when I am staring at computer screen. So yeah this kind of headache… And the painkiller wasn’t working :/
So the classes finally finished and I went out in the snow and I was healed! Hahaha yeah the air was so fresh and snowflakes and it was warm and I was excited :D Also the mud on the road it was fun to go through this mud when crossing the street. And near my house there was this virgin snow I really enjoyed!
Oh oh and today was historical day because first time for 2 months since I am here, I saw an angry bus driver!!! Just like at home hahaha
So now I am gonna study for tomorrow’s quiz in Accounting.Just need to do 15 exercises and 1 Lyryx lab they were doing in class for last weeks :3

Today I created some privacy for me haha
Attached curtains and blanket to the lamp. Now I have my own room again ^^
Friends
One more thing the student from the video said was that some other student became his best friend.
So it’s 6th week and I don’t know where the friends are.
I will tell you how the things are here: In class, you usually listen to the instructor. After class, you usually run the hell out of the room, find a place in library or some other place and begin to study. Some students from other programs tend to study together. They usually occupy one of the break out rooms.
Some students from the same country also tend to study together. Once, me and two other girls went to the library together and we just spent 2 hours in silence, studying. Hahaha
So I just don’t get it how to get friends here haha. After classes you are usually also rushing home.
Well on Thursday we have the meeting of this mentorship program I registered in the beginning of term. This is a program where you HAVE TO BE FRIENDS with someone for at least 10 hours. hahaha Now I get it why they created this program. And I already know my partner. So maybe we will become true friends :3
There was also one thing I didn’t like on LINKS Seminar. They said lets exchange contact information with the student next to you and try to keep in touch and be friends and stuff “Because in 10 years, that person might be the one who gives you a job”.
Well…… I don’t like the idea to have relationship with people only because they might be useful one day. And I strongly don’t want friendship to be understood like that. What the hell right? When you don’t really care about a person and just keep in touch and are nice and then suddenly “Oh okay, 10 years have passed and she didn’t offer me a job, lets delete this useless person from my friends list” :|
Okay one more hour of break. Stop blogging start studying Naruta!
Programming
Well, after we started coding, I am not envy of art students anymore :3
Last week we had our first coding assignment and I really had fun to working on it! It is like networking, when you have to find out the ways to do something. And when there are multiple ways and you can improvise and you will need some troubleshooting for sure and that feeling in the end when you finally got it. Ahhh I love it!
Meanwhile the art students have next exhibition of their works. This time it was letters. I imagine the instructor told them to design letters. Just one single capital letter. For example U. And they were all creative and high artistic skills but for me it would be boring. And I just can’t imagine how they are graded in this kind of tasks. I mean if I rip my face off to make the super-duper cool U and the next day instructor says “naahh.. It’s not much artistic” ? or “its not much creative” or “I have seen it before” “hmmm I am not impressed much.. here is your B+” ??? Yeah I just don’t know. It’s just not my stuff if I ever do “art” I don’t want someone to grade it. Screw it haha
So yeah at least I am in the right program! \m/
Superheroes suck!
Hi blog!
So its Monday and the 6th week started.
I was not bad in the 5th week. I figured out I don’t have to attend every first class. For example, we are just doing in class exercises in accounting right now. And we had Hardware quiz in Information Systems on Friday. So I just studied hard the night before and decided to skip the accounting next day to have more sleep.
So yeah I think it’s okay. I won’t tell you my grades because you know there was this video on “LINKS Seminar for International Students” where a honored graduate student was talking about his college times. He arrived the night before the start of classes and in the morning he had to run after bus. And he was describing this as “he was so disoriented and so bad in time management and he clearly needed to adapt to new environment”.
And I was like “come on man you just arrived in Winnipeg and next morning you already know where the bus stop is, you already know which bus you need, you already got bus ticked OR you already magically have 2$ and 55cents??? Are you a superman????”
I mean when you come to foreign country for studying, you might find yourself so much confused at the first time. And you don’t need the stories of other people who were more adaptive because this just comes in mind every time you sit in the wrong bus or do something wrong. And you might think that you are dumb because someone else was better in this stuff but just screw this. You are not dumb and it’s totally okay to make mistakes!
The other example was another international student from immigration forum saying that studying in college is so easy, she does all her homework in the bus.
And you are just sitting (or standing) in the crowded bus with the huge backpack on your kneels and you got so much to study and you will waste this 20 minutes in the bus and you think about that student every time who magically does all her homework in the road.
No man.You don’t need the stories like this. The last example is about couple like me and my husband: One works one studies. And they say “we earn so much that we don’t count how much we spend and eat whatever we want”. Either these people were earning much more than the minimum wage for their first unqualified job, or they were high level spiritual creatures who only eat 100g corn a day and it’s enough for them. My husband just got his first paycheck and so much money was deducted in taxes and other stuff, we were just shocked and we realized we need even more budgeting.
And I don’t know why no one tells the stories like this. I mean everyone shares only success. And its just bullshit for all new, non-superhero people who need to go through all the adaptation stages. These successful stories just come in mind when you fail in something and think that there’s something wrong with you particularly.
So I want to have this blog to show future international students that it’s normal to make mistakes and to struggle and things like that.(Actually, I am lazy to post every stupid thing I do, but believe me they are impressive!) Because you will still succeed if you try hard. I didn’t share how much I saved in books and I don’t share my grades because you might get different numbers and grades and I don’t want my blog to discourage someone.
Everyone has its own path and priorities and strengths. We are not robots and it’s more fun! Being stupid is fun (Diesel actually used “Be stupid!” for their campaign in 2010) And who are not stupid? - Superheros! So superheros suck! \m/

Friday night. Finally got time to paint my old case for glasses
Bus 42 on Flickr.
Man I really enjoy weather in Winnipeg actually. It has so many variations!
One day you go out in the morning and there is a pure new snow (like today!)
The other day you go out and the trees are frozen in white - so beautiful!
The other day there is a mist and rain and roads are slippery.
The other day you feel hair inside your nose freeze when you breath!!! It’s exciting!!! :D
The other day its sunny and warm!
And the air is always so fresh I really love it! I don’t mind that sometimes its very cold. I know that last winter was very cold all the time but this winter is amazing!
Well, I am not the kind of person who hates wearing lot of clothes. I am also not the kind of person who wants to spend much time outside, like walking or doing whatever. So yeah for home —> bus stop —> bus —> bus stop —> bus —> bus stop —> college —> bus stop —> bus —> bus stop —> bus —> grocery store —> bus stop —> bus —> bus stop —> bus —> bus stop —> home. scenario weather is just adventurous! hahaha
